About The Lightbox
Looking for things to do in the South East of England? Whether you're a local in North Surrey or you are visiting the area during the school holidays with your kids, The Lightbox is one of those bucket list attractions that you need to visit!
The Gallery
Inside, The Lightbox has a variety of exhibits and displays that cover a wide range of topics. The permanent collection includes art, photography, and local history, and there are also regular temporary exhibitions that cover everything from contemporary art to popular culture.
Inject some culture into your family days out and discover Woking's Story. This interactive museum explores the town's history from the 19th Century to the present day. Listen to people's memories of life in Woking and watch historic films.
Explore the two spacious galleries that host a huge range of exhibitions, changing monthly. From the philosophical and moving drawings of outsiders by @stevexoh to other world-class artworks like Lucien Freud and the Soul as a Sphere, there are so many profound and comedic pieces of art to explore. The gallery is full of works from contemporary art by local and nationally famous artists, to loans from major museums and galleries in the UK and overseas!
As well as art and history, there is often the chance to explore science and the natural world, usually with a family-friendly theme.
Things to do
If you're visiting with children (or with your parents!) you'll find plenty to keep them occupied. There are lots of hands-on activities and interactive displays. There are also designated areas for younger visitors where they can explore and play freely.
Another great feature of The Lightbox is the beautiful garden that surrounds the building. The garden is a tranquil space where visitors can relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. It's a great place to take a walk, have a picnic or just sit and enjoy the scenery.
The Lightbox is a great place to spend an afternoon or a whole day. It's perfect for families, art lovers, history buffs, and anyone who loves to learn and explore new things. The friendly staff are always on hand to answer any questions and help visitors get the most out of their visit.
Overall, The Lightbox is a fantastic attraction that offers something for everyone. Whether you're interested in art, history, or just looking for a fun and educational day out, The Lightbox is definitely worth a visit. So, if you're ever in Woking, make sure to stop by and check it out. You won't be disappointed!
Food & Drink
The Lightbox also has a lovely café on-site, where you can enjoy a light lunch or a cup of tea while taking in the views of the surrounding gardens. The café serves a variety of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, cakes and pastries and light meals.
