Attraction Information
The award winning Swanage Railway currently operates on the six miles of track between Swanage and Norden, through the beautiful Isle of Purbeck, passing the magnificent ruins of Corfe Castle. The railway has a more intensive heritage diesel and steam timetable that almost any other preserved railway, giving plenty more opportunities to enjoy a fantastic traditional day of fun with the family.
During your visit you will be able to travel behind one of the beautifully restored steam or heritage diesel locomotives, and you can also visit the Swanage Railway Museum at Corfe Castle station, and the Purbeck Mineral and Mining Museum, which is free to visit.
There are 4 stations so you have many combination options for day trips, plus a great way to access the huge variety of local events that are held in the area. Where this is your first visit, or you are returning for more, there is always something different to see and do.
On top of the regular services, the railway also holds Steam and Diesel Galas, family events, and Santa Special trains during the run up to Christmas. So check out the season ahead of you the link and see what extra fun you can bag yourselves!
