Ridgway Stables

Ridgway Stables welcomes kids and families to come hacking on some of Wimbledon Common's 17 miles of riding trails! You might not find any wombles but it's peaceful, scenic and ideally suited to beginner rides, with the midweek hack being ideally timed at 4.15pm which gives you just time to get there from school and is usually sociably full of other kids! Bonus!

Plus the Saturday Club offers either a morning or afternoon 2 hour session where the kids and their friends can learn all things pony and have a ride about together in a supportive environment. This is really popular though so be sure to book plenty ahead!

If they're absolute beginners then the stable recommends a half hour introductory lesson before joining the groups to give them the basic skills required to ride safely and this also means they're then joining the group with confidence. The minimum age for pony riding is 4 years.
