Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway
Blaenavon, Monmouthshire and GwentAttraction Information
From the main station trains head north to the Whistle Inn, south to Blaenavon High Level Station (which happens to be only a short walk from Blaenavon town centre) as well as to Big Pit Halt, next to Big Pit Mining Museum! It's not just the museum that's educational however, the whole landscape is an inspiring example of nature over industry because it's a work of reclamation.
The trains are spacious and welcoming and provide a comfortable environment ideal for a family jaunt usually with a bonus buffet car, meanwhile there are picnic areas and nice open spaces to play in near (but not too near, kids!) the Garn Lakes. A really well rounded day out which most ages will thoroughly enjoy, especially if it's including a quick stop in the Furnace Sidings Tea Rooms or Eric's Train Emporium.
From the 27th - 31st May, Stardreams Musical Theatre Company presents a brand new production of the much loved story The Railway Children. This is a bank holiday treat the whole family can enjoy, where you experience live theatre at its very best! Performances are at 19:00, with tickets starting from just £10.00!
