About Muckross House Gardens and Farms
Located on the banks of the world famous Lakes of Killarney, in Ireland’s oldest National Park no less, Muckross House Gardens and Farms is a sight for sore eyes!
This is a site of amazing natural beauty made up of mountains, woodlands and the lovely lakes. Enjoy a ramble through the grounds or even pack a picnic - this is Ireland though so don’t forget your brolly! From here explore the gardens - sunken, rock and stream - or hitch a ride on a horse and carriage.
The main Victorian mansion is from the 19th century and gives a fascinating insight into the past. You can dig even deeper by visiting the Muckross Traditional Farms. Here the Ireland of the 1930s and 40s is brought to life with a cast of costumed characters going about their daily chores, set before electricity had been brought to the countryside.
