Attraction Information
La Hougue Bie is an ancient site of historical interest with a medieval chapel, museum, dolmen and picnic areas. A dolmen is also known as a portal tomb and unlike many other dolmens you can actually stand inside the chamber of this megalithic tomb! Cool! There is also a geology and archaeology museum on site, which includes neat collections of coin hoards, axes, swords and spears.
Also on site there is a command bunker built during the German Occupation which houses a unique memorial to the slave workers in the Channel Islands during the Second World War.
A large picnic area encourages you to spend time exploring this ancient site, so pick a day with good weather and you've got plenty of space for a fun back up bunch of games and a picnic. Bonus!
