Attraction Information
Fowley Aquarium is situated on the historic Fowley Town Quay and was first established in 1952. It still retains many of the original tanks, which house an amazing variety of marine creatures.
Fresh seawater is pumped in daily at high tide. This is good for the aquarium as it allows the arrival of creature such as sea squirts and tube worms, which grow from plankton, but it can sometimes affect the clarity of the water.
Kids will really enjoy the touch pool, where they are encouraged to handle creatures such as starfish and crabs under expert supervision.
There is more at this little aquarium than meets the eye, so do take the time to have a good look in each tank to spot creatures such as Conger Eels in the deep wrecks and lobsters and crabs lurking in the corners!
This is a good chance to learn about the fascinating creatures, which inhabit UK waters as the majority of the fish in the aquarium have been obtained from local fishermen. They also try to use local sources for the fish food.
