Crantock Beach

About Crantock Beach

Crantock Beach is situated on the River Gannel estuary, which you can follow for an easy stroll. The mouth of the tidal river Gannel is to the north of the bay and there are high cliffs at the southern end, which provide shelter from the wind. It is a stunning and clean beach with lots of soft sand, which is great for making sand castles! This is a large beach, so there is plenty of room for all, whether you want to pitch up for the day or walk the dog, while keeping an eye out for the grey seals. Lifeguards patrol the beach during the summer, to separate surfers and canoeists from family bathers. They also aim to keep families away from areas with strong currents. The beach is behind dunes so there is some uphill sand walking to get there. Please bear this in mind for disabled access or for whoever is carrying the beach things!
