Attraction Information
BHS approved Checkendon Equestrian Centre offer a variety of well mannered mounts for lessons, which are available from 3 years upwards. Indoor and outdoor schools available plus an equine swimming pool! There are 2 indoor schools, 3 outdoor schools, a large range of show jumps, good stabling and 2 new cross country courses!
Absolute beginners usually start with a Walk In The Woods, a led pony or horse ride through gentle terrain. Those slightly older and more interested and capable can, at weekends and on school holidays, come to the Centre for a full or half day of everything Pony! A half day of this runs from 10am to 1pm an includes an hour of riding, an hour of stable management and an hour helping to care for and feed the ponies. The full day is 10am to 4pm and includes 2 hours of riding and 2 full hours of hands on stable management! The birthday parties contain a combination of these activities.
Working (and playing) with horses has well known therapeutic values and being involved in a hack or trek is also great traditional family time: out in the great outdoors, new scenery, new experiences, a new respect for animals. No screens, no crowds, no hidden fees. What's not to love?!
