Cannock Chase is home to beautiful winding trails through colourful lowland heath, mosaic of mixed woodland, and the lushest pine forest … making it the perfect destination for a day of exploring nature with the whole family ...
At Marquis Drive Visitor Centre, (WS12 4PW) we manage the Heathland landscape and preserve the History on the Chase. It is a great starting point for your outdoor adventure where you can stock up on maps and souvenirs to remember the day. Explore the heathland and woodlands by foot on one of the many walking trails. Kids will love stopping off at the adventure playground where they can swing, slide and climb. We have an accessible route, the RAF Hednesford Walk. Suitable for all family members, dog walkers and those with accessible needs. We can hire out Trampers to use on the route too. Other waymarked walks are available too including The Brindley Heath Walk, The Heritage Trail, Chase2Water, Heart of England Way, and the Staffordshire Way.
For the Chase Creatures virtual trail to hunt down twelve Cannock Chase Code characters, just download the app, Cannock Chase Can, and the whole family can have fun finding them and listening to their words of wisdom.
The Great War Hut Museum is open at weekends only. Restored and preserved to reflect what life was like for a soldier who would eat, sleep and rest in it, it will give you a taste of their very basic living experience. Children will love seeing just how they lived. The Commonwealth and German Cemeteries are in a walkable distance too.
Bring along all your favourite food to have a picnic around the playground or visit the cafe for some delicious treats, hot & cold drinks, and ice creams. But remember …. NO BBQs, NO NAKED FLAMES … these are not permitted across the whole of Cannock Chase. Please leave them at home.
