Aden Country Park
Mintlaw, AberdeenshireAbout Aden Country Park
Aden Country Park has 230 acres full of things to see and do, from old buildings to explore to a farming museum to discover. There is something for everyone, you can even bring the family pooch!
There is so much to enjoy at this park, one of the most popular being the children's play area, which is designed to entertain all ages and includes basics like swings and seesaws, but also a zip slide! There is plenty of seating nearby, so you can sit back and relax while the kids burn off some excess energy. The kids will also want to explore the ruined Aden mansion house, and possibly play hide and seek!
The Aberdeenshire Farming Museum is worth a visit, as it brings alive the story of farming for the area. Displays include information on modern farming too, including vermin control! The museum can be found in Farm Square at the centre of the park, with a restaurant and gift shop nearby.
The lake is always worth a visit, as the resident mallard and moorhen ducks always prove to be a hit. Other wildlife that can be spotted includes frogs, heron, otter, and if you're really lucky the turquoise flash of a kingfisher! There are plenty of other animals, birds and insects to look out for as you explore the nature trails around the park, so keep your eyes peeled!
Other highlights of the park include a Victorian Arboretum, Book of Deer Visitor Centre, sensory, and Carers' gardens, dog agility area, and more besides. Lovely!
