Attraction Information
Arbuthnot Museum provides a great opportunity for you and the kids to discover Peterhead's wealth of maritime history in one of Aberdeenshire's oldest museums. Head out to sea on a whaling vessel (in your imagination at least!) and treat your peepers to a trove of nautical memorabilia!
Find out about Arctic Animals, Whaling, and Inuit artefacts in a series of fascinating displays that are ideal for families. There are models charting the development of local fishing vessels, one of the largest coin collections in Northern Scotland, plus one of the few polar bears in a British museum! There is also a temporary exhibitions gallery, which changes regularly, plus a number of family events held during the summer.
It's worst noting with small ones (or just lots of them!) that there's really limited street parking beside the museum, so the nearest car park is York Street (2 'blocks' away). Disabled car parking can be found at nearby bus station on the corner of St. Peter Street.
It's definitely an educational trip and they'll pick loads up if they're taking notes, so why not check out our other local listings and find something a little more exciting to reward their attention with!
