Attraction Information
There's plenty for families and children at the National Museum in Cardiff, whenever you visit and whatever your interests.
A firm family favourite is our Evolution of Wales gallery where you can journey millions of years through time and come face to face with dinosaurs and giant mammals like the Woolly Mammoth.
The Natural History galleries take you on a tour of wildlife in Wales through woodlands and to the seashore. See the giant basking shark, a hump-backed whale skeleton, plus and the world's largest leatherback turtle!
The Art galleries are home to amazing paintings, drawings and sculpture from the last 500 years including Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso. Remember to collect an activity booklet to help you explore the collections.
Origins is The Archaeology gallery and houses objects from the very earliest humans, 230,000 years ago. You can find out what life in Wales was like in the Stone Age, through Roman times and up to the Middle Ages.
And don't miss the Clore Discovery Centre where you can discover and handle hundreds of objects. Investigate bronze age weapons, dinosaur bones, tropical insects, or ceramics: whatever takes your interest! Use microscopes and magnifiers to get the big picture, and if you're a budding scientist or have a treasure at home, bring in your mystery objects and we'll help you identify them.
Also look out for family trails and activity sheets to help you explore the galleries.
