Run, jump, and play all day at Petworth House and Park! This glamorous National Trust location has amazing art collections and a 700-acre Deer Park, and now there is an exciting new family trail too!
Things to do
Petworth House is one of the National Trust's great treasure houses, with a famous art collection including works by Turner, Van Dyck, Reynolds and Gainsborough. But you’ll also find out what life was like ‘below stairs’ for its many servants – check out the huge historic kitchens.
There are loads of opportunities for adventure outdoors. Follow winding paths through the pretty Pleasure Garden which is full of floral delights and charming features like the Ionic Rotunda and Doric Temple.
Petworth is famed for its unspoilt English landscape and far-reaching views of the South Downs. The parkland is littered with trails and ancient gnarled trees perfect for games of hide and seek. Look for wildlife in the two large ponds, and snap some pics of the historic herd of fallow deer.

Browsing the National Trust's most famous art collections really takes it out of you, huh? Whether you're a fatigued art lover or you've just come back from the enchanting Elmer trail, refuel on tasty treats from the cafe. You can eat in or take away and there are also baby changing facilities.
