Pets on the Green — Animal Handling Experiences in Warlingham, Surrey
Tucked away at the end of a quiet residential road in Warlingham, Surrey, Pets on the Green is home to over 40 extraordinary animals — and every single one of them is waiting to meet you.
This isn't a zoo. There are no barriers, no glass screens, no "look but don't touch" signs. Every session here is completely hands-on. You'll hold, stroke, feed and interact with animals that most people only ever see on
TV or behind glass. Panther chameleons that shift colour right there on your hand. Sugar gliders that leap from their pouch onto your shoulder. A baby Aldabra giant tortoise who stretches his neck out for a strawberry.
Twenty-plus African Pygmy hedgehogs — tiny, curious and irresistibly cute. Leopard geckos, crested geckos, a royal python, a corn snake, a blue tongue skink, a rescue bearded dragon, an iguana, Netherland Dwarf rabbits,
guinea pigs, skinny pigs, fancy mice, White's tree frogs, an African bull frog, map turtles, a terrapin, African land snails, stick insects, an orchid mantis — and Rosie, our beautiful Galah cockatoo who steals the show
every time.
Sessions last 60 minutes and take place indoors in our purpose-built animal room, which is kept warm for the welfare of our cold-blooded reptiles and amphibians. Groups are small — between 2 and 10 people — so every
visitor gets genuine, unhurried time with the animals. There's no rushing from one enclosure to the next. Ciera, our founder, guides every session personally, introducing each animal by name, sharing stories about their
personality and habits, and making sure everyone feels comfortable — whether you're a confident handler or a nervous first-timer.
Perfect for families, couples and groups
Most of our visitors are families looking for something different — an experience that's personal, memorable and completely unlike a standard day out. Children are captivated. Adults are surprised by how much they enjoy
it. Grandparents light up. It's the kind of visit people talk about for weeks afterwards and come back to book again.
Choose from a Reptile Meet & Greet, a Mammal Meet & Greet, a Hedgehog Talk, or the full Animal Keeper Experience where you help with feeding, cleaning and health checks — getting a real behind-the-scenes look at what it
takes to care for exotic animals every day.
Birthday parties they'll never forget
We bring the animals to you for birthday parties that are genuinely unforgettable. Choose which animals you'd like, tell us about the birthday child, and Ciera handles everything — setup, supervision, interaction and
cleanup. Parties are tailored to the child's age and interests, and every guest gets hands-on time. Indoor venues are preferred to keep our cold-blooded animals warm and comfortable.
Schools, Scouts, Guides and group visits
We regularly visit schools, Scouts, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs and community groups across Surrey. Every visit is educational, interactive and tailored to the audience — whether that's a classroom of five-year-olds
or a Scouts badge session. Children learn about habitats, diets, conservation and animal welfare while holding the animals themselves.
Care home visits
Some of the most rewarding work we do. We bring a carefully selected group of calm, gentle animals into care homes — and the response from residents is extraordinary. Eyes light up. Conversations start. Staff tell us
they see smiles they haven't seen in months. Every animal chosen for care home visits is hand-picked for its temperament, and every interaction is supervised, unhurried and full of warmth.
After school club
Our weekly after school club runs for children and teens aged 5–16 who love animals. Meet a different group of animals each week, learn about habitats and diets, take part in handling sessions and Q&A — all in a safe,
friendly, inclusive environment. Groups of up to 12 with hands-on learning every session.
Calm, inclusive and SEND-friendly
We welcome everyone. Our sessions are naturally calming — warm, quiet, unhurried and led at each visitor's pace. We offer reduced rates for SEND children, adults and their carers. Ciera is a qualified BSY Level 3 Animal
Assisted Therapy Practitioner with NESCOT Animal Management qualifications. She also has lived experience of autism, ADHD, ARFID and anxiety — she was diagnosed herself, received an EHCP, and moved to specialist
provision at 14. Being around animals was the only thing that truly helped, and that experience drives everything she does with SEND families today. The animal room is wheelchair accessible via a flat driveway, garden
and ramp.
Trusted and professional
Pets on the Green holds a valid Animal Activities Licence issued by Tandridge District Council, public liability and employer's liability insurance, and Enhanced DBS certification. Ciera is VAT registered, safeguarding
trained, and operates with full written policies and procedures. Every session is run with genuine care — for the visitors and for the animals.
