Do I have to book in advance?

Sessions do get booked up in advance, and we do not recommend families to try climbing for the first time without booking. Under 18s are only allowed into the centre without booking if you are signed off as a Bouldering Supervisor by us. This requires you to have done an induction or have climbed with us at least 3 times. The most straightforward way to get climbing is to book a suitable session. Bouldering supervisors are not required for booked sessions.

All climbers are required to wear climbing shoes, but don’t worry we’ve got that covered. Shoe hire is covered in the cost of Bouldering Clubs, private sessions, and NICAS classes. Chalk will also be provided.We recommend for you/your child to wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting chalky!

Yes, CroyWall Climbing Centre had stated that you will need to pre-book. We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment, session popularity may vary seasonally. Cancellations or transfers are available up to 14 days before your session. However, exceptions can be made under certain circumstances.

Can I climb alongside my child?

Yes, if you are both booked onto a private session.Otherwise, if you are a competent climber (have climbed with us at least 3 times) you can easily become a bouldering supervisor (ask at the front desk to do the questionnaire) and supervisor 1-2 juniors at a time.If you are not a competent climber, you need to book onto an Intro Session to learn everything you need to know.

CroyWall features a range of bouldering walls as well as our brand-new Auto-belay walls...

Bouldering is a type of climbing that takes place on low-height walls, without the aid of ropes but instead with squishy crash mats underneath. Auto-belays take place on a higher wall, but you are clipped into a harness and if you fall, the auto-belay catches you and lowers you slowly.
