Leigh on Sea Beach

On the edge of the Old Leigh near Southend-on-Sea is the picturesque town Leigh-on-Sea Beach. Small in size but large in character with the ambience of a traditional fishing village, renowned for its cobbled streets, fresh fish, cafes and cockle boat and famous cockle sheds! There's plenty of attractions to enjoy here too!

Taste fresh fish & fresh seafood from the charming cockle sheds, go swimming, windsurfing and sailing when the tide is right and when it’s low let the kids sink their toes into the mud flats! The sandy beach itself is perfect for long walks as it stretches up to seven miles and, of course, it provides acres of space for games and sandcastle building under the sea air. Take a stroll through the busy fishing port and even higher out a fishing boat for the day! You can can take all kinds of fascinating boat trips from seal watching to boarding a jet stream boat!

On the seafront is the Leigh Heritage Centre, plenty of shops, cafes and eateries. The beach itself is just 10 minutes from Leigh Railway Station and there’s plenty of parking available nearby, making it an accessible and affordable family day out!
