Canvey Island's vintageCastle Point Transport Museum is now home to over 35 tremendously old and rare buses, coaches, vintage commercials, military and emergency vehicles.
The fascinating exhibition boasts memorabilia ranging from the 1940s to the 1990s and in addition to the classic vehicles has a wide range of transport memorabilia and costumes on display including historic ticket machines, tickets, poster, photographs and uniforms. True Train Spotters will love this place to bits!
Plus a big Model Railway layout to watch at work, with tiny detailed features to delight the eagle eyed. Great for kids into all things 'vroom'!
Please not the limited opening hours, being available April to October on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month plusevery Sunday through August.
If you're an out of towner and not familiar with Canvey itself, Canvey Island is an actual island of some seven square miles lying just off the South Coast of Essex in the Thames Estuary. Because it's below sea level the whole island is ringed with dramatically high sea walls! A really interesting place for a family exploration before or after the museum!
