Chalkwell Beach
Southend On Sea, EssexAbout Chalkwell Beach
Kids, spades, buckets and sunscreen ready? Head out for a lovely day in the sun at Chalkwell Beach near Southend On Sea.
This quiet family-friendly beach is the perfect place to enjoy some peace and quiet. It's within walking distance of the main attractions of the pier but is just far enough to be out of the hustle and bustle.
A lazy day at the beach is a firm family favourite - just unwind and enjoy the sun to the sound of kids playing and waves washing on the shore with a quiet “Woosh”. Want more fun? Try to spot crabs and other marine creatures amongst the seaweed. From Chalkwell Beach you can also see a large granite obelisk, known as The Crowstone. Although it may look like an ancient ruin, it's actually a 19th century London stone which was used to mark the seaward limit of the River Thames.
- Tranquill family-friendly beach
- Pier entertainment nearby
- See the Crownstone obelisk in the water
