Attraction Information
The understated Southend Planetarium at the Central Museum seats only 20 people but presents a range of talks about the entire universe, through various titles on astronomy and the night sky in general.
All their fascinating presentations are given live, so you've got plenty of opportunity for any questions you've got and a small enough audience that almost everyone dare ask!
They are generally suitable for ages 7 to adult, they try to keep it fairly accessible for young intellects but under 5s are not permitted. This is also because the show is 40 minutes long and largely in the dark, not a good mix for most toddlers!
There are public performances every Saturday at 11:00, 14:00 and 15:00. The Saturday 11:00 performance particularly will provide a more in depth look at astronomy which is ideal for students and school age kids with an interest. You can find it on the first floor of the Central Museum which is also well worth a visit with children.
