Located in the historic and tranquil village of Kirkleatham on the grounds of the Kirkleatham Old Hall, Kirkleatham Owl Centre was established in 1990. Did you know that this Owl Centre is one of the oldest dedicated owl centres in the world? It's now home to a range of creatures including meerkats, rabbits, vultures and emus.
Things To Do
Prepare to be dazzled by the diverse array of animals that call Kirkleatham Owl Centre home. From majestic owls to playful meerkats, each creature has its own unique charm that will capture your heart. Get up close and personal with their feathered residents during captivating owl encounters, where you can learn all about these fascinating creatures from their knowledgeable staff. You can even meet baby owls!!! How adorable!
They have over 100 birds in the centre and have free flying displays where you can watch these majestic animals take to the skies. You can even buy bird food to feed the birds! Plus, they also put together a range of fun events throughout the year as well as craft activities.
Kirkleatham Owl Centre is also the area's only specialist Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, treating hundreds of wildlife casualties every year! They offer plenty of school visits and outreach visits too.
Food and Drink
Feeling peckish after all that flying? Head on over to the Kirkleatham Museum Cafe (next to the Owl Centre) for some delicious food and drinks. Choose from a variety of breakfast options, hot and cold sandwiches, jacket potatoes, loaded fries and some delicious sweet treats. They also offer a range of hot and iced coffee, hot chocolate, soft drinks and more. There's also alternative milk available.
Brought your own picnic? No problem! There's also plenty of picnic space available!
