Guisborough Forest features not only a lot of lovely trees and natural wildlife but also loads of fun activities for the whole family to get stuck into, including an orienteering course, a trim trail, a sculpture trail, cycling trails, and 2 play areas.
Things To Do
In the mood for a bit of climbing? If the weather is nice, it’s worth making it to the top of Highcliff Nab or Hanging Stone. There you’ll uncover stunning views over Teesside and the coast. Make sure to bring a camera, or a sketchpad and pencils, so that the aspiring photographers and artists in the family can get to work! Then grab the kids and head on a brand new forest adventure with The Gruffalo and recover his missing party items!
The terrain at Guisborough is perfect for mountain bikers and there is one cycle trail on offer. The Blue Cycle route is a moderate trail that is 4.5 miles long. This route includes lots of beautiful spots that will challenge your cycling skills and fitness levels.
Food & Drink
Head to the Guisborough Forest cafe at the end of the day to stretch your legs and bring your energy levels up with a snack. Nature lovers will adore sitting back in this tranquil environment. You can enjoy the same amazing views whether you are sitting at a picnic bench or reaching the end of the forest's walking routes.
If your little adventurers still have enough in the tank, there’s a kids’ play area to explore, as well.

Disabled parking is on the same level as the walkway and visitor centre.
There are two accessible toilets.

Celebrate The Gruffalo's 25th birthday with a brand new forest trail! The interactive family trail will have you engaging with party-themed activities and games. As well as learning fun facts about the life of the Gruffalo and other forest creatures!

By Car
From Guisborough take the A171 west to the A173. Follow the A173 for 300 metres and look for the entrance to Guisborough Forest and Walkway Visitor Centre on the left side of the road.
Access on foot can also be made via Belmangate and Butt Lane in Guisborough and via Hutton Lowcross village.
