Attraction Information
King's Road playground is beautifully located right on the seafront so oodles of natural sand to get stuck into with a great selection of sturdy climbing frames, slides and other classic kids' equipment, aimed at under 8s but older are welcome as well! All the traditional components for keeping kids busy when the grown ups are sand weary and need a rest! Great visibility over the play area so no worries about keeping an eye on 'em!
Also a good stop to have a picnic or at least to have one near, as the kids gravitate toward it, you're easily spotted from it, and it's an easy marker for bigger kids wondering further afield to find again when they're hungry! Bring blankets for the grass as there aren't many tables on offer.
There's a huge old fashioned paddling pool available seasonally each year from mid May through mid September and parents can hire deck chairs and get drinks from the cafe between the two! There are also decent toilets and changing rooms available so it's a nice little civilised stop on your beach day or a great meeting place if you're got older types who are exploring without you for a while. All in all a lovely trip with the smalls before they start expecting arcades and rides along with the sand.
That said there is more on offer locally, being on the seafront next to the West Pier there are plenty of other things to do and loads of great ways to extend your day trip without even getting back in the car like the Sea Life Centre, Art Gallery, Pottery Painting Studio and Toy Museum. Bonus!
