Attraction Information
Curious About Bath is an exciting way of discovering how this elegant Edwardian city became what it is today.
Enjoy the walks separately, or join them together to form one longer walk, depending on how many distractions divert you, and your available time and energy! Be entertained and challenged, and get everyone taking part – reading maps, directions, clues, matching pictures and reading tales of people, places and events! Walks typically take 1 to 2 hours each.
Walk 1: Abbey to Circus
Listen to a classical guitarist perhaps, or an opera singer, performing in front of the magnificent Bath Abbey, before navigating your way past ancient Roman Baths, and an 18th century ‘water hospital'. Walk along narrow streets and walkways crammed with history to a bustling square, then into beautiful gardens with tantalising views of Royal Crescent. Finally, arrive at The Circus, a truly unique example of outstanding Georgian architecture.
Circus to Royal Crescent
From The Circus you head back into the city, and some interesting shops, before looping back past a medieval church and the site of a 16th century school. Next is the ‘most noble and elegant' Assembly Rooms, once at the heart of fashionable Georgian society, before arriving back, briefly, at The Circus. Finally you make your way to Royal Crescent, one of the finest achievements of 18th century urban architecture.
