Curious About Bath Spa
Bath, Somerset and BristolAbout Curious About Bath Spa
Curious About Bath is an exciting way of discovering how this elegant Edwardian city became what it is today.
Enjoy the walks separately, or join them together to form one longer walk, depending on how many distractions divert you, and your available time and energy! Be entertained and challenged, and get everyone taking part – reading maps, directions, clues, matching pictures and reading tales of people, places and events! Walks typically take 1 to 2 hours each.
Walk 1: Abbey to Queen Square (1.5 miles/ 1.5 hours, Steps so unsuitable for wheelchairs and buggies)
From the spectacular Bath Abbey, the last of the great medieval churches of England, you make your way past ancient Roman baths and one of the oldest almshouses in the country. Next make your way through picturesque and distinctive streets with yet more baths, to the gorgeous River Avon and stunning views of the Abbey. Cross a timeworn bridge, pass colourful shops and an historic theatre, before ending your walk at a delightful Square for a well-earned rest.
Walk 2: Queen Square to Royal Crescent (1 mile / 1 hr/ wheelchaur & buggy friendly)
Circle the Square with its deep history, flirt with a glimpse of the fabulous Royal Victoria Park, explore unique streets, visit the most noble and elegant Assembly Rooms, once at the heart of fashionable Georgian society, navigate The Circus with its inspiring buildings and grand trees, before finishing your walk at Royal Crescent, one of the finest achievements of 18th century urban architecture.
