Cleethorpes Boating Lake
Cleethorpes, LincolnshireAbout Cleethorpes Boating Lake
TheCleethorpes Boating Lake can be found at the southern end of Cleethorpes Local Nature Reserve. There are actually 2 main lakes with a connecting channel and fishing permits are available. The lakes are surrounded by amenity grasslands, ideal for picnics and traditional family games, whilst of course keeping the smaller people away from the waters' edge.
The north lake is open for fishing and is used by a model boat association. Set in the middle of this lake is an illuminated fountain. At the northern most tip of the lake is an open air paddling pool for kids (and you!( to cool down in during high summer. As high as summer gets in England, anyway!
The south lake is open for the hire of rowing boats and pedaloes in the summer season and a small waterfall cascades from one of the islands, making a great fun tropical atmosphere!
There is a small zoo in the lakes area, called Jungle World, a pleasant walk around for smaller types but not exactly a full zoo experience.
The lakes area can be accessed from the main road travelling from Cleethorpes sea front towards Humberston. There is a car park along the front of the amenities which are set back from the main road.
The Cleethorpes Light Railway runs along one side of the lake, and Cleethorpes Discovery Centre is set between the two lakes, see our listings for further information.
