About The Story Museum Oxford

The Story Museum is a most unusual museum in the heart of Oxford. With the aim to enrich lives, especially young lives, through story!

The Museum was established to ensure that everyone can enjoy and benefit from engaging with great stories and create stories of their own in a place full of wit and wonder.

The Story Museum Oxford is not your average museum. Here, the stories come alive! Immersive exhibitions allow children to step into the world of their favourite tales, igniting a love for reading and storytelling. It's a gallery space filled with imaginative exhibitions and where the line between reader and story blurs, creating an unforgettable adventure.

Things To Do

Step into The Portal, where you'll be guided on a journey through a fictional universe. There are over 1001 stories for you to explore in their unique and wonderful way.

Here you can rediscover nursery rhymes, children's story history and even a film experience too!

Venture into The Whispering Wood where you can immerse yourself in a forest of trees that all tell a story or have a secret to reveal. You'll find live storytelling and so much more!

Fall into the rabbit hole and into a world where characters leap off the pages. This interactive exhibit lets children meet some of their favourite characters from beloved books. It's also a dedicated space for younger children as well as a 100-seat theatre, a learning studio and a temporary exhibition space.

Small Worlds

Welcome to a patchwork land of picture books, nursery rhymes and traditional tales for the little ones. There are 5 story themed zones you can explore. From the Bear Hunt and Traction Man's under-sink world to the Night Safe, Story Bus and Winnie and Wilbur's miniature theatre!
