Also incorporating the Attenborough Nature Reserve, the eco-friendly Nature Centre features plenty beyond the natural wonders to entertain kids including a nature table laden with puzzles, colouring sheets and cool specimens to handle – you can also bring in specimens of your own to look at under their microscope! Neat interactive screens and nest box camera broadcasts help jazz up the learning experience too.
Outside you can find a special outdoor education area featuring a special sensory nature trail (watch out for the excellent Insect Hotel!) plus a pond and bird feeding stations.
If you're fairly local it's worth looking into the Wild Kids Club for over 4s which meets there monthly for £4 a time and offers fun learning activities relevant to the reserve. They also offer a session for 2 to 4 year olds in the same vein but this is not so regular and bears watching out for.
If you're lucky (or well organised!) you can also catch some of their events like guided heath walks, wildlife photography workshops and night time explorations!
