From the great outdoors to outer space, there are lots of quirky things to do in Wirral for families.
A trip to Hilbre islands is a real adventure and not for the faint hearted! The islands are cut off from the mainland every four hours due to the tide, so keeping your eye on the time is very important! It’s quite a walk, so be prepared to leave at least three hours before high tide otherwise you’ll be stuck!
For a slightly less stressful outdoor excursion try Thurstaton Nature Reserve. The woodland, meadow, parklands and waters hold an abundance of local wildlife. Listen out for singing birds and spot colourful butterflies as you soak up the sunshine on a warm afternoon and enjoy the views on a relaxing Wirral family day out.
Lose your family members over at Brimsgate Maze. Follow the clues to find your way out of the endless twists and turns and then try out the inflatable assault course or have a game of crazy golf.
Get ready for lift off at Spaceport, which is around five miles out and features six galleries all exploring the wonder of the Great Beyond. Become virtual astronauts in the space dome, ride a flight simulation and do a bit of stargazing in the Observatory.
Animal lovers will also like visiting all the usual farmyard favourites over at Tam O’Shanter Urban Farm or Church Farm Thurstaton, which has stunning views across the Dee Estuary.
