Attraction Information
On the Ness Islands Railway you'll be riding a 7 and a quarter inch gauge track, with 3 trains running half mile long scenic services through the Whin Park. Of the 3 trains 2 are diesel locomotives from the Mardyke Miniature Railway and then the Tinkerbell Chrissy engine is steam.
They pull sit astride style coaches so you're open to the elements and must sit still and stay balanced. This means of course it's not ideal for babies or small folk who've been really packing away the e-numbers... so although it's only a short ride do give it proper thought because of the seating. Also, skirts are inadvisable!
The services run weekends throughout much of the year and daily through the school holidays, so it's a pretty reliable trip, though it's worth ringing ahead in bad weather as obviously they don't run an uncovered ride in really appalling conditions!
