Top Things to do in the Surrey School Holidays
Godstone Farm, Godstone
A day at the farm is always fun, especially when it’s at Godstone Farm! Various creatures, big and small, live at the farm and are ready to meet you and your kids. From the donkeys to the alpacas, and from the chicken to the budgies – you’ll make animal friends from all over the world.
The farm also offers fun-packed outdoor and indoor play areas, plus a Dino Trail teeming with roaring dinosaurs. If you fancy taking your prehistoric adventure to the present, you can visit some of the dinosaurs’ closest relatives, including snakes, spiders, bearded dragons.
Hobbledown is a place where fantasy and the real-world intertwine. There your tiny book lovers will find themselves surrounded by the mythical world of Hobbledown, as the popular children’s book describes it. Don’t miss the chance to meet Sludgebucket, Tipp, Huck, the pesky Skibblers and many more of your favourite characters.
Adventure play is at the heart of Hobbledown with a high ropes course, giant outdoor wooden play areas, indoor play barn, and even zorbing available! Make sure you spare enough time to meet all the animals and watch the amazing birds of prey in flight.
Thorpe Park, Chertsey
To fully enjoy the glorious Thorpe Park, you definitely need a full day, so what better time to plan your visit than the Surrey school holidays? If adrenaline is what you’re after, you’re in for a treat! From Stealth – one of Europe’s fastest coasters, to UK’s only winged roller coaster – The Swarm, the park will excite even the bravest thrill seekers in the family.
Got younger kids too? Have fun with your little ones’ favourite feathered cartoon characters at Angry Birds Land. Plus you can dive into the excitement at Thorpe Park’s water attractions for some family-friendly fun. It’s the perfect place to splash around in the summer.
Alice Holt Forest, Farnham
Kids nowadays don’t get to play in nature a lot, so why not use the Surrey school holidays to take a family trip to Alice Holt Forest and explore the Timberline play trail. Faced with balance beams, slides, wobbly bridges and more fun challenges, the little ones will play around for hours on end. To make your day at the forest even more exciting, search for the famous Gruffalo sculptures and the wooden animal play structures.
The youngest members of your family will also enjoy the brand new Zog Adventure Trail, which will take them on a journey alongside the lovable dragon. Fancy a more challenging activity? Scale the heights of the Go Ape Tree Top adventure!
Frensham Great Pond, Churt
If you live in Surrey, you’re not exactly close to the seacoast. However, if you fancy a day at the beach, you won’t have to go further than Churt where you’ll find Frensham Great Pond. Wide, sandy patch, surrounding a beautiful lake you can dip into – it’s a wonderful place to immerse in the spirit of summer and top up your tan. So, grab you buckets and spades and let’s go!
If you’ve got time to come by Frensham Great Pond any time of the year, don’t hesitate – there are plenty of things to see and do even outside the summer months. You’ll find woodland trails, designated dog path and lots more to explore nearby.
