Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre
Eaglesham, Glasgow and StrathclydeAbout Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre
Just 20 minutes from central Glasgow, Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre has lots to offer for visitors of all ages. A lot of these include families of walkers, cyclists, horse riders and dog walkers!
Located on the edge of Europe's largest windfarm, the visitor centre is the place to learn all about renewable energy and is the access point to over 70kms of trails for cycling, hiking and other outdoor activities.
Inside, the exhibition room has fantastic hands-on interactive activities that will help keep kids interested and enjoying things as well as learning. If you were building a wind farm would would you put the turbines? How many blades would you give them? Could you balance the country's energy supply to meet electricity demands? Investigate all this and much more in the exhibition room!
The learning hub is where the educator led sessions are held. Here, schools and colleges are invited to take place in their Wind Works workshop to learn more about renewable energy.
Something to note when you're planning to explore on foot is that they're actually surprisingly far apart, the wind doodles; from a distance they look close together but when you're walking between them it's not the case so don't plan to cover a certain number of them if you've little legged folk in the party!
