Discover a wild and memorable family day out at The Meadows Wildlife Park, a family-run, not-for-profit attraction in South Wales. Set across 21 acres near Caerphilly and Cardiff, the park is home to more than 300 animals, offering visitors the chance to encounter everything from much-loved farmyard favourites to fascinating exotic wildlife.
One of the highlights of a visit is seeing Keith and Karen, our much-loved capybaras—an unusual and exciting animal to find here in South Wales. The park is also home to ring-tailed lemurs, cotton-top tamarins, meerkats, armadillos, wallabies, porcupines, reindeer, alpacas, llamas, donkeys, ponies, pigs, goats, sheep and many more. Reptile enthusiasts can also discover an interesting collection that includes snakes, iguanas, lizards, tortoises and invertebrates.
Capybaras in South Wales
Meet our much-loved capybaras and discover one of South Wales’ most unusual animal attractions. Visitors can watch Keith and Karen explore, relax and interact within their habitat while learning more about these fascinating animals. Pre-bookable capybara experiences are also available for those wanting an unforgettable opportunity to meet them up close.
Memorable hands-on animal experiences
The Meadows is designed to bring visitors closer to animals. Depending on the season, activities can include rabbit and guinea pig petting, goat brushing, lorikeet feeding, reptile encounters and walkthrough exhibits with lemurs and wallabies. Our interactive approach creates memorable experiences while encouraging respect, understanding and care for animals.
A family-run community wildlife park
We are a family-run, not-for-profit wildlife park with animal welfare, education and community at the heart of everything we do. Every visit helps support the care of more than 300 animals, while also enabling us to provide valuable opportunities for volunteers, schools, families and local community groups across South Wales.
