Attraction Information
Imperial War Museum North, or IWM North, provides an exciting free day out for all the family and brings to life stories of how war has shaped lives over the past century. A varied programme of events, activities and hands-on interactive displays makes the subject matter accessible to all ages.
Discover how war shapes lives through revealing powerful stories, such as a soldier's last letter home, to objects like the twisted steel of the World Trade Centre. Housed in a building representing a globe torn apart by conflict, this is a unique place to find out more about conflict during the last century.
Explore a First World War trench, discover what life would have been like for an evacuee, escape from a prisoner of war camp through a tunnel, and more at this museum full of fascinating exhibitions. There are hands on Action Stations that allow you to delve deeper into some of the subjects that are explored in the gallery. If you want to know more, make time for the Big Picture Show, a 360 degree experience using surround sound, and projected images to immerse yourself in history.
Fancy something a bit daring? Climb the 180 steps of the iconic AirShard and stand almost 100ft (30.48m!) in the air and enjoy amazing views of the Manchester skyline for only £1.20.
