Things To Do
The Park
As you step foot into Baggeridge Country Park, you'll instantly feel the tranquil embrace of nature. The park spans over 152 acres of lush greenery, woodlands, and enchanting lakes. It's the perfect playground for children to run freely and explore. With an array of designated walking trails, you can take leisurely strolls or embark on more adventurous hikes, all while soaking in the breathtaking scenery.
Nature enthusiasts and curious kids will be delighted to know that Baggeridge Country Park is teeming with wildlife. While exploring the park, keep your eyes peeled for ducks paddling on the lakes, squirrels darting among the trees, and maybe even a deer or two grazing in the distance.
Don't forget to bring along a pair of binoculars for birdwatching, as the park is home to a diverse species of birds.
Miniature Railway
During the warmer months, they have a miniature gauge railway running which is a happy bonus, offering a pleasing little jaunt around Baggeridge Park.
Operated by passionate volunteers, the Miniature Railway has been captivating families for generations.
The railway features meticulously crafted miniature locomotives and carriages, scaled down to provide an authentic train experience for both children and adults alike. Kids will be thrilled as they board the tiny trains and wave goodbye to the station while the steam engines chug along the tracks. The excitement is palpable as the train winds its way through tunnels, crosses over bridges, and meanders past picturesque landscapes.
Play Area
There's a great adventure playground there with multiple climbing structures, a death slide (always more fun than it sounds!), sandpits, slides and both rope and traditional swings. Plenty to keep ages 2 through 12 busy and fit. They also now boast a 2-mile figure of 8 Mountain Biking circuit and there are maps available from the tea shop!
The kids can burn off their energy at the well-maintained playgrounds, complete with swings, slides, and climbing frames. It's a joy to watch them laugh, play, and make new friends while you relax and take in the serenity around you.
There's also a horse trekking trail for which you need a licence to use, so contact the Country Park Rangers for information on that, fishing, guided walks, group activities or if you'd like access to the permanent orienteering course! They can be contacted on the number given.
Walking Trails
Also, if you fancy a bit of walking, there are plenty of paths and public footpaths you can take. From the Easy Access which takes around 30 minutes to the Toposcope Trail which is approximately 45 minutes. Not forgetting the longer walks, the Baggeridge Circular Walk where you can walk to the edge of Whites Wood and Baggeridge Wood Walk. So however little the legs are within your party there's an option to suit.
