Where To Go Strawberry Picking In Birmingham

Not only is fruit picking fun and educational but it is a great way to support local businesses and communities. It is a super ethical day out too as your kids can tuck into fresh fruit (keeping them healthy and energised) while also benefiting the environment by reducing package waste and pollution in the process.

And for the final reason, it’s a cheap and cheerful day out with fruit picking baskets starting from £5 and the majority of farms being free entry.

With a total of 55 acres of soft fruit, Manor Farm Fruits has 17 acres of strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants and blackberries designated specifically for ‘Pick-Your-Own’ during the summer months as well as selling ready-picked blueberries and rhubarb. And what’s more? There will also be a brand new Maize Maze opening at the end of July!

Even when the summer months have dwindled you can still enjoy PYO activities on Halloween during the pumpkin picking season.

There’s just one thing you need to know really, and that is that Essington is an award-winning farm that produces the freshest fruit with the best flavour! And it’s not just strawberries on the PYO menu but raspberries, blueberries, plums, damsons, runner beans, sweetcorn, rhubarb and more!

Wondering how it works? At Scaddows, you’ll pay a small entry fee for your containers and once you’ve returned with your container after a lovely afternoon of fruit picking you will be charged by how much your box of fruit weighs.

Just remember to only pick how much fruit you actually want/will eat.

Kids will get the ultimate farming experience, scouring the land for its finest jewels whether its Autumn raspberries, damsons, blackcurrants, gooseberries, redcurrants, rhubarb, strawberries, tayberries, beetroot, board beans, broccolini, carrots, cauliflower, courgette, patty pan squash, romanesco & so much more!

The sheer amount of produce you can hunt for is wild! So whether you are seeking out the perfect ingredients for a comforting winter soup, a super sweet summer jam or a refreshing fruit salad, there’s plenty on offer.

This has to be one of the most impressive strawberry-picking spots near Birmingham that we have we found!

There are two varieties of strawberries in total: Mailing Centenary (superb flavour with a conical shape, usually ready by mid-May) and Elsanta (aromatic, glossy, succulent strawberries with outstanding flavour. They will be ready to pick throughout the Summer until September).

The strawberry plants are easily accessible as they are waist high, so all ages can get involved with fruit picking. This farm is also wheelchair-accessible and pushchair-friendly.

This nursery is located one mile from Solihull town centre (where there is lots of parking) and Widney station is just 500m away!
