SAW the Ride – The Experience

Based on the horror movie franchise, SAW, Thorpe Park has introduced one of their scariest ride for your enjoyment. Here, you’ll be on a journey through Jigsaw’s most intricate but horror-filled torture equipment. A terrifying horror rollercoaster not for the faint-hearted. You will definitely not be in for a smooth ride. This roller coaster will be battling against swinging pendulum blades, floors of spikes, giant rotating blades and much more. Do you think you can handle it?

On SAW the Ride, you’ll be faced with a vertical drop of 100 degrees from a heart-stopping immense 100ft high! Then you’ll be sent plummeting to the ground, with no sight of the entire track before you… Honestly stomach-turning, but can you feel the adrenaline building? I certainly can.

But before all that, the horror movie-themed rollercoaster starts off with a terrifying indoor section. Where frights and screams are all you’ll hear. Then as you proceed to the vertical drop, you’ll hear the unnerving tick…tick…tick of the churning coaster on its vertical chain lift as it reaches new heights. Then comes the dreaded free-fall drop of 100ft at 55 miles per hour – you’ll probably reach the bottom before the sound of your scream does!

Immersive Theming Features

The ride will begin in a dark and abandoned warehouse…

Even before the ride begins the queue line theming is impressive too with surgical tables, tools, words written in blood and dummies scattered across the pathway to the ride.

Take note of Jigsaw’s traps – they’re everywhere.

On the ride, you’ll have to escape murderous torture machines. Fly over metal spikes and blades and dodge flying arrows. Get ready to scream as the train breaks on each level of the warehouse…

Your adrenaline levels will be through the roof each time you narrowly escape death… Some people haven’t been so lucky and have been left behind in the warehouse…YIKES! Say hi to the fake corpses for us…

Technical Ride Features

This is a steel rollercoaster, located on its own island of terror.
There is one vertical lift hill.
You’ll travel 100ft high into the sky at a 100-degree vertical angle and then face a 100 ft drop!
You will plummet and pick up speeds of 55mph.
The track itself is 2362ft long
There are 3 inversions, making it an excellent ride for thrill seekers.
The ride experience lasts just 1 minute and 45 seconds.
Experience G-force of 4.7
There is a circular saw loop, and upside-down loop, and an Immelmann loop.

To go on this phenomenal ride experience and face a jump scare, you have to be 1.4m tall with a torso of up to 51inches wide.

When SAW the Ride opened in 2009, it had actually broken the record for the steepest roller coaster with a vertical drop in the world. Absolutely insane!

Is the Live Action Horror Maze a part of the ride experience?

SAW the Ride became such a popular attraction at Thorpe Park that the SAW Alive live-action horror maze was born… Initially, the ride was open all year but soon became an attraction that only opens during the Fright Night events. The horror maze is not a part of the SAW ride experience.

Is SAW the Ride at Thorpe Park a comfortable ride?

SAW has a lot of sudden breaks, twists, loops, and vertical drops therefore it is not the smoothest or slowest of rides so you may be uncomfortable at certain points. The ride is 14 years old now and as it has aged it has become more of a rough ride. However, that is part of the fun right?

How much did SAW the Ride cost to make?

The ride was created by Merlin Studios and cost £13.5 million to make!

Is Fast-track available for this ride?
