Attraction Information
Scalloway was once the capital of Shetland but in later years has been a prosperous fishing port. Fishing features in the museum, yet the unique story concerns, The Shetland Bus. In the Second World War there was a renewal of old contacts with Norway, and a small fleet of fishing boats ran a shuttle service taking refugees out and taking arms and freedom fighters in the 'Shetland Bus Operation'. The Scalloway Museum tells the part Shetland played in WW2 through photographs, artefacts and interpretive panels.
