Attraction Information
Located in the 18th century Böd of Gremista, birthplace of Arthur Anderson, co-founder of the P&O Shipping Company, the Shetland Textile Museum focuses on historical and contemporary Shetland textiles and their makers.
Displays include a restored working loom highlighting Shetland’s tweed industry, fair isle and lace knitting, and textiles by local makers. It annually hosts the Degree Show by students at Shetland College.
The museum offers demonstrations, workshops, talks and a colourful shop selling the best by local makers, including members of the Shetland Guild of Spinners, Weavers, Dyers and Knitters.
