REME Museum
Chippenham, WiltshireAbout REME Museum
The REME Museum displays the proud history of the Corps of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).
REME repair, recover and maintain the British Army's equipment, from battletanks to helicopters, individual weapons to radios. Wherever the Army are, there you will find REME.
Explore interactive exhibits, complete family quizzes and admire large, military vehicles which are sure to 'wow'. Whether your children enjoy learning about history or the military, love an interactive game or simply want something to do, we have something for everyone.
Our galleries cover REME's history from their formation in the middle of World War Two, to the present day. Alongside large vehicles, discover soldiers' diaries, letters and photographs, military uniform and medals. All of these elements thrown together create a detailed picture of life as a REME soldier.
Based in Lyneham, Wiltshire, the REME Museum runs a programme of temporary exhibitions so there's always something new to see. We also hold a range of events for all ages throughout the year, including family activities during the school holidays. Plus, we've signed the Kids in Museums Manifesto, so you can rest assured your family will have a great day out!
Our on-site not-for-profit Crown's Café welcomes you to sit down and enjoy a hot drink, fresh lunch or a piece of cake, whether you choose to enter the galleries or not. In warmer months, the kids can be active in the play park while you watch from the outdoor seating area.
There is plenty of free on-site car and coach parking and we have disabled parking next to our main entrance. The 55 bus stop is situated just outside the MOD Lyneham entrance so public transport is easy to catch.
