About REME Museum

The REME Museum displays the proud history of the Corps of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).

REME repair, recover and maintain the British Army's equipment, from battletanks to helicopters, individual weapons to radios. Wherever the Army are, there you will find REME.

Explore interactive exhibits, complete family quizzes and admire large, military vehicles which are sure to 'wow'. Whether your children enjoy learning about history or the military, love an interactive game or simply want something to do, we have something for everyone.

Our galleries cover REME's history from their formation in the middle of World War Two, to the present day. Alongside large vehicles, discover soldiers' diaries, letters and photographs, military uniform and medals. All of these elements thrown together create a detailed picture of life as a REME soldier.

Multi-award winning museum in Wiltshire

Over the years, we have proudly received a number of VisitEngland accolades, including the Hidden Gem four times since 2018, Gold for 2022-23 and now the Welcome for 2023-24.

The VisitEngland Accolades are designed to celebrate excellence within the visitor attraction sector and showcase those businesses in the VisitEngland Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme that go the extra mile to provide a high-quality day out.

The Welcome award this year demonstrates the incredible job our Front of House team do every day. Whether it’s greeting you at the door, answering questions in person or on the phone, directing enquiries or offering additional information, our Reception staff and volunteers are always on hand to make sure you have the best experience.
