About MediCinema
MediCinema is a brilliant independently-funded charity that brings the film industry to hospital patients and their families. Their hospital cinema provides people access to the newest film releases and brings the magic of film night to them.
There's a huge benefit to cinematherapy, that provides families with quality time over a movie night together. And also a couple of hours away from the intense nature of a hospital. It makes a huge difference for those who need it!
There are currently 6 MediCinemas across the UK, from London, Newport and Newcastle to even Glasgow - they've delivered over 23,700 cinema experiences to patients and their families!
Boredom can become hard to deal with especially if you're in the hospital for weeks or even months. Which is why MediCinema helps you feel better with film. By providing patients with a much-needed break and a bit of laughter. All in luxury cinema seats that are bright and colourful!
Their cinemas are specifically designed to accommodate wheelchairs and hospital beds, but doesn't stray away from providing you with the full immersive cinema experience!
Patients can enjoy the latest blockbusters or nostalgic favourites all within the safety of the hospital.
The current MediCinema locations are in:
- St. Thomas' Hospital, London
- Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle
- Southern General Hospital, Glasgow
- Serennu Children's Centre, Newport
- ICAP MediCinema in Guy's Hospital, London
- CW+ MediCinema in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London
And they plan to double their number of MediCinema sites by 2025!
