What to Expect...

Lee Valley White Water Centre is one of the UK's most thrilling water activity venues, set on the Olympic course built for the 2012 Games in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire. Whether you're booking a family session on the Legacy Loop or tackling the Grade 4 Olympic rapids, every visit is activity-led and fully guided by qualified instructors.

Families with children aged 8 and over can take on Family Rafting on the Legacy Loop, while older thrill-seekers aged 12 and above can take on White Water Rafting on the full Olympic course. Lake activities including Explore Kayaking, Explore Paddleboarding and Water Wipeout are also available from age 8, with no previous experience needed.

All kit and equipment is provided. You'll just need to bring swimwear and a towel. Activities run to a timetable, so book your preferred time slot in advance to secure your session.

Lee Valley White Water Centre is an activity-based venue. There is no general admission ticket. Each booking covers one specific activity session, which includes all required kit, equipment, a safety briefing, and instructor guidance throughout.

White Water Rafting (age 12+) covers a 90-minute session on the Olympic course, including kit fitting, a full safety brief, a lake-based activity assessment, and guided runs down the rapids. Allow 120 minutes in total for your visit.

  • White Water Rafting on the Olympic Course

    White Water Rafting on the Olympic Course

    The 300m Olympic course drops 5.5m from start pool to finish, with Grade 4 rapids and a conveyor system to carry your raft back to the top. Rafts hold up to nine people and sessions last 90 minutes, with approximately one hour on the water. Minimum age is 12; all participants must weigh under 18 stone.

  •  Family Rafting on the Legacy Loop

    Family Rafting on the Legacy Loop

    The 160m Legacy Loop is a gentler Grade 3 course designed for families. Each raft holds up to five people, with a maximum of two adults and three children aged 8 to 16. The session is guided throughout and costs £260 per raft, making it one of the most accessible white water experiences in the UK for younger children.

  • Lake Activities for Ages 8 and Above

    Lake Activities for Ages 8 and Above

    Explore Kayaking, Explore Paddleboarding and Water Wipeout all take place on the flat-water lake and are ideal for families who want an active session without the white water element. Each session is £17.50 per person. Water Wipeout is an inflatable obstacle course on the lake where participants compete against each other to complete the course.
