Attraction Information
The 18th Century Stables of the Palace Demesne have been restored to form a Georgian themed heritage centre offering families the chance to immerse themselves in the atmospheric hustle and bustle of life here, 1786 style!
Dressed in costume representing both the grandeur and squalor of the age, entertaining and professional guides will give you a unique tour around the 18th century estate and deliver insights into the workings of the former palace of the Archbishop of Ireland. It's worth mentioning here that the aforementioned Archbishop is the focal point of the Primate's Palace, rather than it being anything monkey related!
You can explore some of the estate's most historic buildings such as the awesome Georgian Kitchen and mysterious walled garden; the Primate's Chapel (still no monkeys: you're been warned); the cool Ice house (pun intended) and the Servants' tunnels.
You can also visit a Victorian schoolroom and walk in the Garden of the Senses. There are several walking trails, including an Eco trail, spread throughout the 90 acres of the original Demesne. The centre has a modern gift shop, a picnic area and other visitor and educational facilities for groups besides.
Opening Times
The grounds are open at all times with the internal facilities offering a seasonal access and events timetable.
