1. Halloween at Fonmon Castle

Get ready for an amazing day and night of family fun this Halloween at Fonmon Castle. One of the highlights in their seasonal calendar of events with loads of spooky fun for all ages. Halloween at Fonmon Castle is back by popular demand!

Marvel at the special effects of The Horror Magician with his book of spells, be brave and take on the challenge of The Scare Run or head to Horror Farm for sinister sights and a truly spooky night! Get ready for creepy crawlies, illusion magic tricks and The Scare Run…to the Maleficent Marquee, where you can boo-gie with themed characters!

For younger members of the family and those easily scared, there are still plenty of seasonal activities to enjoy. Take a stroll through the spooky trail in The Skeleton Gardens or Dino Haunted Woods. Then, listen to ghost stories from the castle on the Halloween Story Trail before heading to the Mini Monster Ball.

There’s also a Halloween themed menu to try a spooky snack from and live music.

This event often sells out quickly, so it is essential to book in advance to secure your tickets. It is split into daytime and evening entertainment. Please do not Age 16+ for The Scare Run as it is designed for an adult audience.

2. Cardiff Halloween Festival

The Cardiff Halloween Festival is packed with spooky fun for all ages! By day, explore the vast pumpkin fields, join the Monster Bash Family Disco, or embark on the Trick or Treat Scavenger Hunt.

Enjoy activities like axe throwing, a maze, live performances, and spooky storytelling. As night falls, the Twilight Festival lights up with glowing pumpkins, fire shows, and live entertainment.

For a scarier experience, Scare Fest offers terrifying mazes and thrill rides for ages 14+.

3.Cantref Adventure Farm Pumpkin Festival

Cantref Adventure Farm has a fantastic selection of family-friendly activities for Halloween 2024. This is another event back by popular demand, and tickets are often snapped up the moment they appear on sale!

Take a trip on the spooky swamp boat ride, perfect your wand skills at wizard school and see fun performances at Mr Ev’s Halloween Show! You can also enjoy marshmallow toasting and a bubble party.

Best of all, all children get a free pumpkin. So, make sure to head over to the Cantref Adventure Farm pumpkin patch and select your favourite. You can even make it your own special pumpkin hunt. A wonderful experience for all the family this upcoming Halloween.

5. Halloween Nights St Fagans

Enjoy a spooky evening with a trail for children around the museum buildings. Do you dare knock on each door to find what ghosts and spirits lurk in the dark? There’s also creepy crafts, lantern making and potion stirring-spooktastic!

A fair and market will be open, and refreshments can be purchased on the night from Gwalia Green. It will be a magical Autumn night for all the family.

6. Billy Bob's Farm Pumpkin Patch

There are a variety of places in South Wales to visit for pumpkin picking but Billy Bob’s makes it into our top 10 for their extra special pumpkin patch experience. The pumpkin patch itself is pretty impressive, and there are lots of other seasonal fun to enjoy, too!

The pumpkins can be found in a field surrounded by beautiful Monmouthshire countryside, and there are loads of different types and colours to pick from! You can enjoy a scarecrow trail on the way to select your pumpkin or just head straight to the patch. There are also a variety of pumpkins to pick from in the Billy Bob Farm’s spooky barn.

The spooky barn offers a range of Halloween fun, including colouring, pumpkin carving, and face painting. You can also meet some of the farm’s animals and, on certain dates, enjoy Halloween movie nights.

No Pumpkin Patch visit is complete without getting that Instagram-worthy shot, but don’t worry—Billy Bob’s has plenty of fun photo opportunities, and they love to see little ones turn up in their spookiest costumes!

7. Halloween/Nos Galon Gaeaf Quest at Parc Slip Nature Reserve

The nature reserve needs your help! Are you ready to embark on a quest to help protect the nature reserve from spooky spirits and creepy creatures? Wander the trails and search for special ingredients to create a protection potion. Once you’ve found them, head back to the visitor centre to add them to the cauldron for a prize (and hero status)!

Barry Island Dark Run

8. Cyfarthfa Castle Dark Run

Raise funds for Ty Hafan and celebrate Halloween, too, by taking part in Cyfarthfa Castle’s Dark Run. Run, walk or jog the route with family and friends as you take in the views around the castle and it’s stunning lake.

For the 2.5K fun run, everyone is encouraged to wave glow sticks. A spooky surprise is waiting for you as you pass by the lake. Areas of the route are lit up and have live music entertainment. Fancy dress is welcomed. So, run in your favourite Halloween costume or neon and get ready for a fun-filled experience!
