Queen Charlotte’s Story at Blenheim Palace

The hit TV series is a spin-off from the much-loved Netflix show Bridgerton. The tale follows the love story of Queen Charlotte and King George III while exploring important topics like race and mental illness during the Georgian period. It also delves into women’s roles regarding marriage and child-bearing.

The story flits between a middle-aged Queen Charlotte and a young Queen Charlotte as she reflects on her younger life and the challenges she had to face and overcome. You’ll also get to watch how your other favourite characters (like Lady Danbury) grew into the people you see in Bridgerton. Overall this series is about love, strength and family.

While the story is inspired by the real interracial marriage of Queen Charlotte and King George III, the series is a dramatised version so not all events are true.

However, this spellbinding drama series does include extravagant wigs and glorious dresses (as seen on screen) that were very much a popular style during this time period and now you can get up close to each one!

For film & TV buffs, this tour offers an insight into the production of the series while also offering up fun facts about other hit filming locations of Harry Potter, James Bond, and Gulliver’s Travels. This tour is available every day at 11am – 3pm.

All the scenes at ‘Buckingham Palace’ were actually filmed at Blenheim Palace! Go and take photos where famous scenes were shot like the key dining moment between young Queen Charlotte and King George. Head down into the gardens where the famous final ball scene takes place in Episode 6.

Blenheim Palace is also the perfect place to explore if you are a fan of the series as it isn’t just the filming location for Queen Charlotte’s Story but it has actual real-life connections to Queen Charlotte and King George III. The couple shared a close relationship with the 4th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, and after their visit to Blenheim Palace, they were so inspired that they embarked on renovating Buckingham House.
