Bristol Zoo Project, a popular family attraction in the South West, has exciting news!
A brand new adventure playground called Explorers Basecamp is opening this Summer and we’ve got all the details you need to know…
Explorers Basecamp Adventure Playground: All You Need To Know
The new multi-level adventure play area at Bristol Zoo Project adds to the already impressive list of animals species to see and other attractions they have on offer. Explorers Basecamp, a conservation-themed playground aims to teach children about conservation and animals. Currently 78 percent of animals at the zoo are endangered or at high risk of extinction and are part of conservation programmes.
Three-Storey Play Tower
The bespoke play space and outdoor climbing adventure has a three-storey play tower and is designed for all ages and abilities. Here at Day Out With The Kids we think kids will be thrilled to climb the tower with slides, discover rope jungles and wobbly bridges. There’s also a sensory area with hammock, floor trampolines and even a racing zip line!
Accessible Play
The brand-new play area has a variety of accessible playground facilities. The first level is suitable for wheelchair users and includes games and a slide that can be transferred to from a wheelchair. In addition, there’s also a wheelchair accessible roundabout.
Public engagement manager at Bristol Zoo Project, Rosie Sims, said: ‘With fantastic interactive and accessible features. Explorers Basecamp offers kids the chance to learn about protecting species and habitats, through fully immersive play.
‘Adventure play specialists CAP.CO have worked with us to design and construct Explorers Basecamp. This is based on a field station, which you’d find at one of our conservation project sites around the world, for example, in Equatorial Guinea and Madagascar.
‘What makes it so special is that sustainability, inclusivity and authenticity are at the heart of the design, with a focus on inspiring and educating young minds.‘
Explorers Basecamp is opening in Summer 2024, in time for the Summer school holidays.
