What To Do On Boxing Day

Make use out of all the boxes from online purchases or what your gifts came in and build a fort with your kids!

A brilliant and creative way to have some imaginative adventures with boxes on Boxing Day, before you throw them out! And a fabulous family memory-making day that your kids will truly cherish!

If you want to make your Boxing Day fort even more impressive, add some fairy lights for that magical touch. And if you wanted to do something different, have your kids decorate the boxes in whatever way they want and then they can play in them! Whether they paint a race car, a rocket ship, a boat, a mini shop, or a garden. Kids’ imaginations run wild and at least they’ll be occupied for hours (while you recover from the Christmas Day tipple…)

If your kids were gifted with some incredible LEGO sets (or maybe you were), then use Boxing Day to spend some fun quality time with your family and build your LEGO!

Whether it’s only for a couple of hours or longer, it’s an inclusive activity that everyone can enjoy and at the end, you’ll have your completed set to show off!

Did you get the Iron Man helmet? A Harry Potter adventure, a forever flower bouquet or even the LEGO London skyline set! A fun way to end the Christmas season before prepping for the big NYE bash!

If you’re feeling a little sluggish after Christmas Day festivities and fancied getting out of the house, then a winter walk is the perfect solution to get those legs moving and to have your kids engage in some physical activities.

Bring a ball with you too or whatever your kids love to play outside with, and walk to a park near you and engage in some friendly competition. Or just go on a long walk around your neighbourhood and create your own light trail by walking past the neighbour’s houses that have illuminating light installations. It’s still the festive period after all!

Or perhaps you can go to an actual light trail! Walk under tunnels of light and pass luminescent light displays as you wander through a winter wonderland full of light!

After Christmas Day, I bet you’ll have lots of dinner leftovers, whether it’s turkey, chicken or pies. So, why not make lots of different meals with it, like turkey/chicken sandwiches, chicken salad, turkey tikka masala, turkey and ham pie, the list is endless! And you can never go wrong with eating more amazing food…

Whether your make turkey sandwiches with leftover turkey, mac and cheese, if you have any broccoli and cheese still or cake pops if you have cake leftover! There’s so much delicious food that you can make with leftovers, Boxing Day won’t be short on food heaven!

No one can resist a bit of sales shopping, so if you’re able to, why not! Whether you buy clothes for yourself, your kiddies for the year, or even start Christmas shopping for 2024 (if you’re an eager beaver!).

Treat yourself to a new wardrobe, or a set of suitcases if you’re wanting to travel (when we can) or some new kitchen utensils. The sales will be everywhere and you’re sure to find something, whether you go in person or buy it all online.

If you live by the sea or you can travel to it, why not take the kids and your family to the beach for some fresh air, Where you can all enjoy the sand and the cool breeze in your hair? Maybe bring a kite on a windy day and enjoy some kite flying! But make sure to wrap up warm and bring an extra pair of clothes in case they get wet!

Boxing Day doesn’t have to be eventful if you don’t want it to be. You can just sit back and watch your favourite movies, whether it’s an old classic or new to TV blockbuster. Grab some popcorn and cosy up with your family. You can enjoy a much needed break, after the hectic run up to Christmas. If you don’t want live TV, there’s plenty available to stream on Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+.

If your family fancy getting out of the house and enjoying some winter activities, then how about visiting some festive ice rinks? It’s the perfect winter activity to keep that festive feeling even after Christmas is over!

A relaxing day is all you need after the hecticness Christmas Day brings!

Sit down with your family and create some hilarious memories, playing entertaining games. Whether it’s traditional board games like Monopoly, Articulate, console games like Mario Kart/Party or a simple jigsaw puzzle. Fun that will last for hours!
