Attraction Information
Sandwood Bay
You have to trek 4 miles from Blairmore along a rough inland track with no sign of sand nor sea until you reach the top of the steepest ridge, then the mile long dune backed bay of pinkish sands opens up before you, flanked by pretty cliffs at either end. This place isn't for tourists so much as explorers, who will be rewarded with a stunning coastal wilderness perfect for photography and adventure!
Huge Atlantic rollers crash onto the shore here making this a popular spot for surfing, though there is no lifeguard cover and family swimming is not recommended due to a dangerously strong undertow.
The weblink is for a geopark touring company operating nearby with some tourist information.
The address given is by necessity for the local tourist information point, so please be aware of the significant distance between this and the beach itself and plan your journey independently.
