Christmas at Dyffryn Gardens
This Christmas, join in the fun at Dyffryn Gardens on the Father Christmas Reindeer Trail. Father Christmas has lost his reindeer, and he needs your help – can you find them all as you explore the gardens? Each wooden reindeer has a fun game or challenge waiting for you, so gather your loved ones and see how many you can complete.
After your adventure, stop by the cosy second-hand bookshop for some Christmassy colouring, then treat yourself to a warm drink or seasonal snack from the café.
Once you’ve helped Father Christmas, take time to enjoy a peaceful winter walk together through Dyffryn’s frosty pathways. Breathe in the crisp air and admire the gardens resting under their winter blanket – it’s the perfect place to slow down, unwind, and reconnect with nature this festive season.
Things To Do At Dyffryn Gardens
Let your cheeky monkeys get muddy, balance along enormous trees, and jump from log to log along the stepping stones to their heart's content.
Dyffryn Gardens
With extravagant gardens to explore, you'll find 55 acres of horticultural plants and flora! As well as historical vistas, intimate gardens and a working kitchen garden!
As you wander around the gardens, you'll find a Pompeiian garden with a central fountain, a tropical glasshouse with exotic orchids and cacti, an amazing collection of succulents, and a beautiful and calming lavender garden. That's not all; you also have to check out the Italian Terrace, Australasian and Mediterranean Gardens to explore! There's truly a collection of gardens for every season!
The gardens are anything but bleak during the winter, with scented shrubs and aromas shrouding you and winter honeysuckle and snowdrops emerging under the trees. You'll also find hellebores and camellia flowering throughout the award-winning gardens. Why not set off on a winter walk with the family? From the gardens to arboretums, you'll discover trees from all over the world in one place!
Natural Play Area
To add the cherry on top to your family day out, the kids can find two fabulous play areas made from log stacks: one by the Welcome Centre and a bigger one near the Arboretum. These wild play areas have plenty of space for youngsters to run, jump, explore, and play!
Balance along enormous felled trees, jump from log to log along the stepping stones and have a picnic on hand-carved picnic stumps. But that's not all—the area is home to squirrels, birds, and creepy crawlies! So, don't forget to bring your magnifying glass.
Feeling peckish?
We bet your tiny explorers will be feeling hungry soon - but not to worry there's plenty of snacks here!
You'll find The Gardens Café next to the children's play area, which offers toasties, sandwiches and pasties as well as hot and cold drinks, cakes and bakes, snacks and ice cream. At The Gallery Cafe, in the heart of the garden, you can sit in or takeaway with hot and cold drinks! From pre-wrapped and ready-to-go bakes to cakes, pastries, sandwiches and snacks.
