What to Expect...

Waddesdon Manor Grounds admission gives you access to one of England's most important Victorian gardens, set on a hilltop Rothschild estate in Buckinghamshire. Explore the formal Parterre garden, replanted twice yearly with around 110,000 colourful plants, wander among sculptures (including one originally created for Versailles), and visit the restored Victorian aviary, where this licensed zoo successfully breeds rare songbirds.

The grounds include access to the Wine Cellars and special exhibitions at the Stables Courtyard, all surrounded by sweeping English countryside views. Families can let children loose in the Woodland Playground, then regroup at the Stables Café for lunch or ice cream.

Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild built the estate between 1874 and 1885 to display his collection and entertain guests, who marvelled at the aviary even in the 1890s. The hilltop location offers unchanged views across the Buckinghamshire countryside, with fountains punctuating the formal gardens and tall trees shading the scented walks.
