Best Things To Do & Days Out In Oxford

There’s much more than academia for families looking for fun things to do in Oxford!

Inspire your child’s creativity at The Story Museum, where their favourite TV and book characters will come to life. If it’s the literary trail you’re after then just outside of Oxford in Great Missenden is a museum and story centre dedicated to Roald Dahl, who lived there for 36 years.

Back in the city and equipped with an imagination firing on all cylinders visit the Oxford Castle where you can climb the Saxon St George’s Tower and marvel at the stunning 360 degree view, drop down into the dark depths of the crypt and take a tour who will bring the history of the castle to life on this Oxford family day out.

If you’re feeling brave you can join one of Bill Spectre’s award-winning ghost tours from outside the front of the castle or the visitor centre. Learn all about the dark secrets on the streets of the city as you brace yourself for theatrical hour laced with props and illusions to keep you on your toes!

To blow away the cobwebs visit Blenheim Palace, which was the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and is now a World Heritage Site with acres of land filled with glorious gardens, a dedicated family area, a giant hedge maze, butterfly house and adventure playground.
